Snowdonia National Park

Best Camping Staycation Spots

With the bank holiday weekend and a UK heatwave nicely matching up for us all to enjoy and finally see the back of May, we thought we’d go through some of the best camping staycation spots around the UK. With many people likely not travelling abroad until next year, camping and staycations have never been as needed, and with many people never having been to the likes of Snowdonia National Park, the Peak District, or the Lake District – it’s now time for people to explore more of what’s on their doorstep. It’s never been a better time to get some fresh country air, cook up something good for breakfast outside your tent, and to enjoy the simple life pleasures of spending time in the great outdoors.

Home to the UK’s second-highest mountain, and one of the most scenic and beautiful parts of the country, is the Snowdonia National Park. Concentrated in the north west region of Wales, the rugged mountains are criss-crossed by trails, craggy summits, and glassy lakes. Camping here is all about taking in the most of the natural beauty, and a particular highlight that’s worth a mention is the impressive Aber Falls waterfall. Not for the faint-hearted, you can have a good old bathe in the plunge pool but be warned it’s absolutely freezing – but some of the best views you’ll see.

Another of the Three Peaks is the ever-popular Scafell Pike which draws hoards of mountain-lovers and outdoor obsessives all-year long. Surrounding by insanely good campsites, glampsites and top-tier country pubs – which have been sorely missed – it’s a great weekend camp option. At 978 metres, Scafell is England’s highest mountain. But for those not quite up to the task, the Lakes is a mecca for walkers and climbers alike – which makes it a great camping destination.

The Peak District sits in the central England with steep limestone valleys like Dovedale, the iconic village of Edale that marks the end of the Pennine Way footpath, and the moorland plateau that is Kinder Scout. Within easy distance of the likes of Manchester and Sheffield, it’s a go-to place for people wanting a break from the fast-paced city life we can all get caught up in. Surrounded by unbeatable views, mellow walks and adrenaline filled climbs, camping in the Peaks is a great staycation.
